Redstone’s leadership team brings together more than 200 years of combined experience across mining, geotechnical engineering, tailings management, hydrogeology, environmental services, operations, and business leadership. Our Principal Advisors have held senior technical and operational roles with many of Canada’s largest resource companies, including Teck Resources, Suncor Energy, Syncrude Canada, Shell Canada, Canadian Natural Resources, Petro-Canada, Cameco, BHP, Total E&P Canada, and Western Oil Sands. Collectively, they have led major mining operations, managed multi-disciplinary technical teams, delivered large-scale capital projects, supported regulatory approvals, overseen tailings and geotechnical programs, and developed life-of-mine strategies for some of North America’s most complex mining assets. This depth of experience allows Redstone to provide practical, operations-focused advice grounded in real-world execution, technical excellence, and proven leadership.
BRAD STRUEBY

BRAD STRUEBY

P.Eng., Principal Advisor, Mining

Brad has 34 years of experience in the mining industry and has worked for some of the largest resource companies in Canada including Syncrude Canada Limited, Petro Canada (secondment), Cameco Corporation, Suncor Energy (secondment) and Teck Resources.

Over the span of his career Brad has managed several technical and mine operations teams and has been involved in an array of projects including Geo-environmental, Geotechnical and Mine Engineering, Technology Development, Major Projects and Joint Venture Management. Brad is an active member of the Canadian Institute of Mining and is the current Chair of the Surface Mining Society.

TANYS MacGOWAN

TANYS MacGOWAN

P.Eng., Principal Advisor, Geotechnical Engineering

With over 30 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, Tanys has held various influential roles including Engineer of Record, geotechnical engineering advisor, director of geoservices, and director of digital innovation. Throughout her career, she has spearheaded diverse teams comprising hydrologists, geologists, geotechnical engineers, and technicians, delivering notable accomplishments such as managing the design of one of the largest tailings dam structures in oil sands history. Tanys authored one of the first approved dam decommissioning plans in oil sands history.

She has presented and authored several papers on pitwall stability, tailings dams, fire response and an overview on geotechnical engineering in the oilsands. She is very passionate about advancing risk management through governance, education and digital and data advancements. When spare time permits, you’ll find her learning more about the psychology behind leadership where she has taken courses at Harvard, Oxford and MIT to help her better understand the influence of human nature on how organizations can achieve their goals, including those on risk management.

CRAIG SIMPSON

CRAIG SIMPSON

P.Eng., Principal Advisor, Mining

Craig has over 35 years of experience in mining engineering spanning uranium, coal, industrial minerals and oil sands. His experience includes: mine planning, design, and operation; safety system implementation; project management and execution, and; mine closure planning. Craig has held a variety of leadership roles over 25 years including managing technical planning teams in oil sands where he held the overall accountability to develop integrated mine plans that showed the impacts of strategic decisions on the life of the mining asset. 

Craig is passionate about collaborating to achieve integrated solutions through scenario analysis. He believes in data-driven decisions that arise from integrated mine plan outputs – providing results, risks, and opportunities to senior management

PAUL GRAHAM

PAUL GRAHAM

P.Eng., Principal Advisor, Mining

Paul has over 30 years of experience in mining with 5 years in coal and 25 years in oil sands. He has worked for large resource companies in Canada including Syncrude Canada Limited, Suncor Energy, Shell Canada, and Canadian Natural Resources.  His experience includes: mine planning, design, and operation; the implementation of autonomous and semi-autonomous mining equipment; project management and coaching; work process development and implementation, and; technical assurance.

Over his career, Paul has led several large teams through major transformational change holding roles including mine manager, general manager mine & tailings, and global discipline head for mining.  He is passionate about team collaboration, technological advancement, technical assurance, and implementing effective work processes to safely deliver improved results.

Michael Di Marco

Michael Di Marco

P.Eng., Principal Advisor, Mining

Michael Di Marco is a mining engineer and industry leader with more than 35 years of experience spanning mine operations, engineering, project development, regulatory approvals, and corporate technical services. Throughout his career, Mike has held senior leadership roles with Teck Resources, Total E&P Canada, Western Oil Sands, BHP, and Highland Valley Copper, supporting some of Canada’s largest mining and oil sands developments.

Mike brings extensive expertise in open-pit mine planning, mine optimization, equipment selection, cost estimation, project execution, tailings management, and geotechnical integration. He has led multidisciplinary technical teams responsible for mine engineering, regulatory applications, feasibility studies, operational readiness programs, and major capital projects from concept through execution.

His experience includes key leadership roles on the Fort Hills, Frontier, Jackpine, Muskeg River, Joslyn, and Island Copper projects, as well as participation on numerous industry committees focused on mining innovation, tailings management, regulatory policy, and operational excellence.
